Chemical Properties and Breakthrough Adsorption Study of Activated Carbon Derived from Carbon Precursor from Carbide Industry

چکیده

The residual carbon from the carbide industry in Malaysia has been explored as a precursor activated (ACs) processing via chemical activation with potassium hydroxide (KOH). consists of high fixed content and is sustainable source raw material, making it promising for ACs processing. However, synergy between temperature impregnation ratio yet to be well precursors Thus, present work, ratios 1:1 1:5 process 300°C 700°C were examined impact these factors was evaluated towards characteristic derived ACs, such pores surface morphology, functional groups, thermal profile. finding indicated that as-received /KOH provided BET areas 130 – 458 m2 /g micropores 19 25.75%. results suggested highest area this range study 458.15 at an 700oC 1:1. Then developed further dioxide (CO2) adsorption using breakthrough CO2 adsorption. time rate capacity calculated 70 s 0.175 mmol/g, respectively. This could one potential materials development, forming microporous structure during KOH encouraging binding molecules capture.
